Professor McGonagall

 Professor McGonagall is my favorite professor in Harry Potter's world. Very few of the companies that have licenses for the doll/action figure merchandise have portrayed McGonagall......................at least in the doll/action figures that I collect. I do have the Tonner doll, which is a GREAT likeness. I need to get some new pictures of her so I can post them here on my blog. I keep waiting for Star Ace to release McGonagall, but so far it hasn't happened. Mattel did release a version of her last year in their new play line though, and I had to pick her up.

I think she's a great likeness for the price point. She comes in the green robes she wore in the first year.

I also picked up Snape and Dumbledore in this line.  Id love to see Lupin and hoping they also eventually come out with Umbridge............the professor I LOVE to HATE.

One Angry Wizard

 Still in a bit of a Potter mood, so decided to put Star Ace Voldemort's second head option on him and get a couple of new pictures.

Star Ace has been a bit inconsistent with degree of accuracy with its likenesses of the actors. This one of Voldemort is one of their best though. It's a wonderfully creepy likeness.

Mattel's Yule Ball Dolls

 I have been tempted by the Mattel Harry Potter line dolls since they came out, but I thought since I had the Star Ace figures I could pass on the Mattel dolls...........................until they did the Yule Ball wave. Star Ace hasn't done the Yule Ball dolls, and I have Harry and Draco in the Tonner line, but I missed Hermione and Cho when Tonner did them, as well as Ron, so I decided recently to cave on the Mattel versions.

I'm really pleasantly surprised by all of them. It appears they are on the Monster High bodies. They are much less expensive than the Star Ace line, so I may have to go back and pick up some of the basics to play with, as they are quite fun to photograph, and I do have a soft spot for all things Harry Potter.

I think Ron's likeness may be my favorite.

It appears they male dolls are closer to the likenesses of the actors, and the females are more generic sculpts, but I do quite like Hermione too!

And while Cho is probably my least favorite of the 4, I am glad to have her. I would have loved for Mattel to have done Victor Krum as well. Who knows, if the line is successful enough maybe we will eventually get him.

All in all wonderful dolls for the price, and I look forward to exploring the line more and picking up some more of the dolls.

Star Ace Ginny Weasley

 I'm on a bit of a Harry Potter kick. Sideshow had free shipping and $20 off Ginny Weasley during the Spooktacular event, pair that with $50 points I had sitting waiting to be used and she was a deal too good to pass up, so I finally caved and bought her. I had been eyeing her for a while.

She looks very stern. She is on the same body as the first year Hermione, but her face looks older than the Ginny in the Chamber of Secrets to me. I kind of wish they had put her on the Prisoner of Azkaban Hermione body.

They also appear to have recycled all of Hermione's accessories..............books/bookbag. If she was to be representative of Chamber of Secrets Ginny, then I wish they would have included Tom Riddle's diary. Her box really doesn't state what movie she is supposed to be from. In fact, the picture of her on the box appears to be from the Order of the Phoenix movie. In that case, she should have definitely come on the taller body, as she was as tall as Harry in the movie, best as I can remember. Oh well. 

All in all I'm pleased to have her as an addition to my Star Ace collection of figures from Harry Potter's world. I think I want to add Luna next, although I still need teenage Ron and I really want to get Professor Lupin too.

 There is something so "magical" about the whole Harry Potter universe, pun intended, lol. I do love the books, the movies and all the dolls I have that represent the characters of that world. Playing a bit with the younger Tonner set today.

Steppin' Out Barbie

I have an old china cabinet in my dining room where my Silkstone and some other black/white/pink themed Barbies reside.  Today I thought I'd take one of the girls out that had never been photographed.  This is Steppin' Out Barbie and she is so reminiscent of Old Hollywood Glamour.

The Mackie face really is so lovely.

I really love her hair.............and her understated makeup as well.
