Call me Riot............or Ace........

Why can't doll companies introduce a sculpt and then stick with the original name given the sculpt? Integrity drives me crazy with their tendency to rename their sculpts so that they can use them across different lines. I don't really collect the Integrity dolls, with the exception of the Homme's. I collected the girls for a bit until it became too hard to jump through the hoops to get the ones I really wanted.......at that point I decided I could do without them. I mostly collected the 16" crowd at that point anyway, but there was always something about  the Homme's that drew me in. Eventually I ended up caving and bringing one home. My thought was, I'll just collect one each of the male sculpts. They can hang out with my Barbie girls. I've been pretty good at sticking to that philosophy until 2013 and the introduction of Ace McFly.

When I saw the first pictures of this guy from the convention, I knew I was probably in trouble with my one per sculpt rule. I was able to find him on ebay and bring him home.............and then I found out this sculpt was also used in the Jem and the Holograms line for Riot Llewelyn.
The search was on to bring him home too........luckily Riot was a little easier to come by than Ace. I found his hair to be a little unruly, so even though I am definitely no hair dresser, I did attempt a bit of a hair cut on mine, and I'm much happier with him now.
At the 2014 Integrity convention, Ace McFly once again made an appearance. This time in a  blonde version with side glancing blue eyes. Yes, he did have to come live with me as well. I wonder if Riot v. 2 will come next? Or will it be Ace again at the 2015 Integrity convention?
Whatever the name, I imagine I will find myself in the hunt for the next incarnation of Ace/Riot,  Fred/George, whatever they might decided to call him next. Sure would be nice as a collector to be able to search for a favorite sculpt under just one name though.

NaNaNaNaNaNaNaNa............

Tonner has done a lot of character likenesses over the years................some good, some not so good (IMHO), so when it was announced that he was going to do Batman from the 1966 TV series I held my breath. I LOVED that show growing up. It was on every day when I got home from school, and I remember pitching a fit for having to go to dance class one night a week because it meant that I had to miss Batman. So, in regards to the dolls, I watched the net hoping to see some real owner pics of the dolls..................and I waited, and I waited, and you get the idea. It seemed there weren't any owner shots to be had. So, I then waited for a sale, which I eventually found, and Batman arrived. Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised............in my mind Tonner has a "hit" with this character likeness. He looks very much like Adam West IMHO.
He's on the Matt O'neill body instead of the superhero body, which is fitting with the character in the TV series.
He has molded hair, but I completely understand the reasoning behind that decision after putting his cowl on.
The cowl fits tightly to the face, and I think he  looks even more like the TV version of Batman with it on. In fact, I like him so much I'm contemplating getting a second one to be "Bruce Wayne" all the time.
All in all a wonderful version of a favorite character to commemorate a favorite childhood TV series. I only hope that we get to see Boy Wonder in this line eventually. At present, it seems Batgirl will be added to the series next. I did buy Catwoman, who was released at the same time as Batman. She isn't quite as good a likeness as Batman (IMHO), but the outfit is great. And since this blog does focus on the male dolls.................I hope that we get to see  Joker, Riddler and Penguin as seen in the series as well. Egghead would be fun too. Are you listening Mr. Tonner?

It's been a while...........as I was reading through a lot of the blogs I follow, I realized once again, the male dolls seem to get the short stick in dollydom. Since the male dolls are some of the dolls I enjoy most, and I've amassed quite a collection of them over the years I thought I might revamp the blog and focus a bit on the male fashion dolls. Over the past few years I have gone to Flickr for most of my doll postings and the fashion dolls have taken a backseat to the asian BJD's (specifically Iplehouse), but recently Jamieshow has revived my interest in the 16" crowd with their re introductions of Gene and Friends in resin form.  So, when it was announced that Trent was going to join Gene and her friends, of course, I couldn't resist.
When he arrived, I couldn't have been more pleased. Even though I am a self confessed male fashion doll lover...........AD Trent never grabbed me enough to play much with him.  Jamieshow's version, done in resin has inspired lots of play since his arrival. We have been working through the Tonner outfits, trying to see what works and what doesn't. For the most part, pants are a little long in the leg and a little big in the waist, but if a vest or belt can be had, everything I've tried on him has certainly been workable.
One of my favorites of the outfits we have tried is the suit from Tonner's Daniel Craig dolls in the Golden Compass line. Very scholarly.
The vest he is wearing here is from Tonner's Draco Yule Ball doll, paired with other pieces of a Tonner tux. Trent has also opted for the second wig cap that came in his trunk set.
I think Madra definitely approves...........
And lastly for now, sporting the robe and PJ pants from one of Tonner's Basil St. John sets, Trent is ready to settle down with a good script for the night.

Now that Trent has been cast in resin form, I anxiously await what else Jamieshow has in store for him and the rest of the Monolithic gang. I'm really hoping for more wig caps and clothing. I would also love to see another male doll added to the Monolithic gang, of course.
